Inserts are filled in when the page is built rather than when it is written. They take data from the page, from the site or from a dataset, so the text stays short and the values stay in one place. Each example below is followed by its source.

Questions and answers

The questions are written as ordinary markdown between two comments. The level of the first heading inside sets the question level; everything below a question until the next one is its answer. The same text produces the accordion and the FAQPage markup for search engines.

Can I edit a question later?

Yes. The questions live in the page body, so you edit them like any other text and publish the page again.

Can an answer hold a list?

Yes. Answers are converted like the rest of the page:

  • lists
  • bold text and links
  • inline code
How many questions can a page have?

As many as you like. Only one FAQPage block is printed per page, whatever the number of inserts.

Embedded frame

Another frame of the site, printed in the middle of the text. Here it is the author byline, which reads the site’s author dataset.

Single values

A value is printed without a tag, from the page, its frontmatter or the site. Put it on a line of its own: inside a paragraph it would be lost when the page is exported back to markdown.

Version of the workspace this page documents:

2.4

Last reviewed:

September 2026
<!-- onpress/frame {"name":"value","value":"page.data.version"} /-->
<!-- onpress/frame {"name":"value","value":"page.data.updated"} /-->

The values come from the frontmatter of the page (data.version: "2.4", data.updated: "September 2026") and can be changed without touching the text.

Lists from data

A repeater prints its markup once for every item of a dataset or a system source. The plans below come from the same dataset as the pricing page, so changing a price changes it here too.

    Page terms

    The topics of the page as a list of labels.

    A menu

    Any navigation menu of the site, here the one from the second footer column.
