Brief mode

A stack of blank index cards with a binder clip, on a cobalt blue background

Turn a single line into a structured brief. Brief mode asks two or three short questions, then returns a goal, an audience, key messages and a checklist you can edit before you start writing.

Most weak drafts come from a short request, not from a weak assistant. “Write me an email to customers” is a topic, not a task. Brief mode closes that gap before the first draft, not after the third.

What you get

After your line and a few quick answers, the assistant returns a brief with four parts:

  • the goal and who the text is for
  • the points it must make
  • what it must avoid
  • the shape: length, tone and format

Every part is editable. Change a line, delete one, add your own, and only then ask for the draft. The draft is written from the brief, so a correction to the brief is a correction to every version after it.

Where to find it

Find it in the message box menu under Brief. If you want the idea behind it, read A Request Is Not a Brief.
